Let me paint you a picture.

It’s January. You make a mental note: this is the year we finally get family photos done. The kids are at a cute age. The timing feels right. You even Pinterest a few outfit ideas. Yet an unsettling tax sets in, chaos. Why do family photos feel impossible to schedule?
Then February happens. Then soccer season. Then someone gets an ear infection. Then it’s suddenly November and you’re sending out holiday cards with a blurry selfie from a birthday party in March.
Sound familiar? You are not alone. Honestly, you’re not even being dramatic. Life with little kids is genuinely a lot. But as both a family photographer and a mom of a toddler who has absolutely tried to eat sand during what was supposed to be a cute outdoor shoot — I’m here to gently call you in.
Why do family photos feel impossible to schedule? Because the “right time” you’re waiting for? It’s not coming. But spring is. And that’s close enough.

In my time as a photographer, I’ve heard them all. And I say this with so much love — because I’ve said most of them myself:

Because it’s real, and I’m not going to dismiss it.
Professional photography is an investment. But here’s what I’ve seen over and over again: the families who wait for the “perfect financial moment” often wait years and years. And in the meantime, those chubby baby hands get longer. The lisp disappears. The phase where your kid would crawl into your lap without being asked — gone, just like that.
I’m not saying skip your electric bill. I’m saying: if photos matter to you — and if you’re reading this, they probably do — it’s worth planning for, not just perpetually deferring.
Spring petite sessions exist for exactly this reason. Shorter time, beautiful natural light, a lower price point — and you walk away with images that make you genuinely stop scrolling when they pop up in your memories two years from now.

Here is a truth that took me a while to really absorb, both as a mom and as someone who photographs families for a living:
There is no version of your life that is photo-ready. There is only your actual life, which is already beautiful and already going too fast.
The living room doesn’t need to be clean. Nobody needs a new haircut. Your toddler doesn’t need to be in a “good mood” (though snacks help). What makes family photos good isn’t perfection — it’s realness. It’s the way your partner looks at you. It’s your kid mid-laugh with dirt on their face. It’s you, right now, in this season of your life.
That’s what I’m here to capture. And spring, with all its golden-hour light and blooming Atlanta beauty — Druid Hills, the Beltline, Downtown Decatur in full bloom, rural flower farms and lavender fields galore — is one of the most stunning backdrops we get all year.

Stop waiting for:
That family doesn’t exist. This one does. And this one is worth documenting.

I’m an Atlanta-based maternity, family and newborn photographer, and I genuinely love what I do. There’s something so sacred about being trusted to show up for a family in an ordinary moment and turn it into something they’ll keep forever.
I’m currently booking spring sessions, and spots are limited — not in a sales-pressure way, just in a “I only have so many Saturdays in April” way. If you’ve been thinking about it, now is genuinely a great time to reach out.
No pressure. No pitch. Just me, you, your kids, and whatever chaos they bring — which, in my experience, always makes for the best photos anyway.
Send me a message whenever you’re ready. I’ll save you a spot. Jasmineringo.com
